Volunteer Opportunities
Camp Widjiwagan and the Joe C. Davis YMCA Outdoor Center is fortunate to have a dedicated and committed group of volunteers who are continually improving our facility for the continued benefit campers and visitors. We are, however, always recruiting more volunteers who are looking to give their time and talent. For more information on any of the opportunities below, please contact Jeremy Tackett at (615) 360-CAMP or via e-mail at jtackett@ymcamidtn.org.
Community Service
We have many opportunities and projects for teens and adults to complete community service hours for school, college, church or court appointed obligations. If you have a deadline, please do not wait to sign up. It often takes several days to complete the approval process and assign a volunteer project.
Eagle Scout Projects
Camp Widjiwagan is proud to collaborate with Boy Scout Troops to complete their Eagle Scout projects. We can even collaborate with you to create a project that encompasses the talents and interests of your troop.
Types of Volunteer Work
At Camp Widjiwagan, our camp curriculum is designed to cater to each child's individual enthusiasm and talents. Our volunteer program works much the same way. We strive to match your interests to an activity that can most use your help.
Most of our positions are not working directly with campers, however, there are some projects where this may be necessary.
Below are the categories of volunteer work available at Camp Widjiwagan. While there are not always volunteer opportunities in each category, there are ongoing projects that could always use an extra hand!
Building & Property
Day Camp Improvement
Development/Fundraising
Administration
